Make new friends, have exciting conversations, and eat delicious dinners?!
What could be better?
Across the Table’s Teen Dinners bring together youth from different communities and schools. You’ll find a welcoming environment that challenges you to open your mind to other diners’ experiences and perspectives while you share a delicious meal together.
Teen dinners will be launching in the fall of 2010!

What does an Across the Table Teen Dinner look like?
What are the ages of the participants? Our Teen Dinners are very similar to our adult dinners, the only difference is that you must be between the ages of thirteen and twenty to participate. You might be thinking, "wow, that's a big age range!" That's true but that's part of the idea. Our adult dinners have had diners ranging in age from 21 to 86! So you'll be enjoying a part of the Across the Table experience.
Who will be there? You will be in a group of ten, including an adult facilitator. The adult facilitator is Lauren Grossman, who started Across the Table and previously ran an outdoor education program for teens and taught high school English in the city. So while Lauren loves facilitating the adult dinners, she's really excited about reconnecting with teens and hearing what you have to say.
What happens? When you arrive you'll immediately be partnererd with another teen to do an activity that will give the two of you the chance to get to know each other. After the appetizers are served, we'll go around the circle and introduce our partners to the rest of the group. Once this is done, Lauren will pose the first question to the group and then the conversation will take off! We like to describe our conversations as a very polite group of friends chatting- no interupting, no name calling or insults, but a very fun, sometimes hilarious and always interesting conversation.
When does it start? The teen dinners take place from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. Be sure to be on time so you won't miss out!
What will we eat? Across the Table's dinners are always pre-ordered and served family style and they are always delicious four-course dinners. Just like the adult dinners, the menus are always posted on the registration page so take a look in advance to see if it's food you like. But remember, a huge reason to participate in Across the Table is to open your mind to new ideas AND new food! If you've never tasted Ethiopian, Thai, or Vietnamese food, this is your chance!
We look forward to having dinner with you soon!
